Ronald McDonald House

MISSION

To provide a ‘home away from home’ for families of seriously ill children (0-18) and ill expectant mothers being treated at Freeman Health System and Mercy Hospital


Our Home is open to:

  • Parents with newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
  • Trauma victims (i.e. auto accidents) involving children 18 years of age and under.
  • Children who have specialized surgeries (i.e. dental, orthopedic)
  • Mothers developing illness during pregnancy requiring continuous rest or monitoring.
  • Children with illness requiring extended hospitalization.
 

Our 14,000 sq. ft. House offers:

  • Ten large bedrooms, each with its own private bath
  • Two large family rooms, one with a self-contained children’s play area
  • Kitchen and laundry facilities
  • A chapel
  • An outdoor play area
  • A patio and garden area
  • A conference room
 

Families have access to:

  • Transportation to and from the hospital
  • Meals, which are often provided by local restaurants, churches, and volunteers
  • Computer workstations with Internet access
  • Family Fun Nights
  • Facials
  • Scrapbooking Classes
  • Weekly House Gatherings
 

Since registering our first guest on August 20, 1998, our House has served over 2,963 families from 37 different states and 2 foreign countries. Our House has served families from over 245 communities in our Four State area of Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.
